Dr. Heather Jones, VMD
Dr. Heather Jones is Practice Owner and Chief Veterinarian at Animal Friends. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, where she earned her Veterinary Medical Doctoral (VMD) degree with honors. She worked in small animal practice for a few years before becoming a zoo veterinarian at the Detroit and Toledo Zoos. Dr. Jones also enjoyed being a high school biology teacher and instructor to veterinary technology students. She opened Animal Friends in 2014 and loves seeing her patients and teaching pet parents about animal care. Dr. Jones is passionate about recycling and conservation and likes the challenge of seeing a variety of exotic animal species. Outside of animals, she enjoys photography, travel, and watching her daughter dance!
Dr. Kelley, DVM
Dr. Kelley is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University and joined Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2023! Growing up, she decided she wanted to become a veterinarian at only the age of 4 and has worked hard ever since. When she isn't caring for our furry loved ones, she likes to spend her time cooking, golfing, reading a great thriller, or cheering on Michigan State University's Sparty!
Laura, Office Manager
Laura is the office manager here and has been with Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital since the beginning! After meeting Dr. Jones at Dworkis Dog and Cat Animal Hospital in 2010, they bonded during their red-eye shifts and became friends. In 2014, Dr. Jones invited Laura to help start her clinic here in Canton and the rest is history! Laura has 3 fun black and white cats at home and hopes to get a lab puppy next year. When she is not at Animal Friends, she is busy with her Grandson, Vincent, or cruising in her 1965 Mustang!
Lauren, Practice Manager
Lauren has been the practice manager at Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital since the spring of 2023. She started her career as a veterinary assistant in 2019 at her family's veterinary clinic but has been around animals her whole life, including growing up on a farm! She enjoys riding horses and trying any new art form she can get her hands on in her free time!
Katie, LVT
Katie has been a licensed veterinary technician at Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital since the spring of 2018. She attended Siena Heights University and graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's in biology. She then continued to receive her veterinary technician license through Stautzenberger College in 2018. Katie grew up begging her parents for a dog to the point she started hanging puppy photos all over their house! She had a fantastic opportunity in 2015 when she interned at an Animal Care Sanctuary in Pennsylvania. When Katie isn't caring for patients, she shares her adorable chocolate lab Mason with her newly married husband!
Bailey, LVT
Bailey has been a licensed veterinary technician at Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital since the spring of 2022. She received her license through Penn and graduated in 2020. She has always had a love for animals at a young age and by the time she was five, she owned chickens, cats, and fish! She started her animal career in 2003 at the Meijer pet department and by 2010, she had graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s in biology and a minor in zoology. Bailey now has three cats, a dog, two snakes, and a pond full of fish! When she isn't working, she likes to spend her time going on nature walks and taking nature photographs.
Niki, VT
Niki is a veterinary technician and joined Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital in the Spring of 2021. Growing up, she always wanted to be a veterinarian, and in 1991, she started her first job as a veterinary technician at what is now known as VCA Allen Park. Niki has since been at several other clinics where she has built an amazing skill set for the industry. When Niki isn't helping out at the clinic, she enjoys spending her time camping or reading a book!
Alexabelle, VT
Alexabelle is a veterinary technician and joined Animal Friends Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2023. She graduated in 2021 at Michigan State University with a bachelor's in zoology and aquarium science. She started her animal career in 2021 as an intake tech at a humane society and then worked at an exotic-only clinic before joining us. Alexabelle is pursuing to become a licensed veterinary technician and enjoys staying busy baking, cooking, and eating her creations in her free time!
